Pub Kamrup College is a premier higher education institution in the northern bank of the River Brahmaputra in Assam, India. The College was established in 1972 as a long-standing vision conceived by some of the eminent scholars and well-wishers of the locality of Baihata Chariali, Kamrup, Assam. The College is located in the Baihata Chariali, the junction point of two National Highways- 15 and 31, serving as the northern entry point to the Guwahati and upper Assam. The historic Madan Kamdev Devalaya (remnant of the 10th- 12th century shrine, now a Govt. recognized Archeological site as well as tourist spot) is at a distance of 3 km from the College. With the motto of तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय, (Tamaso Ma Jyotirgamaya) meaning illumination with the light of knowledge, the Pub Kamrup College is a significant centre of higher education and research in Assam. The College is registered under Section 2(f) and 12 (B) of the UGC Act 1956 in August 2002. The college fraternity is committed to quality enhancement, continuous institutional improvement and have made persistent effort to uphold excellence in teaching, learning and governance. In the process the college has successfully completed the third cycle of NAAC accreditation in 2023 and has been awarded 'B++' Grade with CGPA 2.8.

In its foundational years, Pub Kamrup College offered courses related to the Arts stream only but over the years it has grown and attained high academic standards, offers both graduate and post-graduate courses in the Arts, Science and Vocational studies. Today, the college has 18 departments offering H.S., Undergraduate, Post Graduate (P.G.), and Vocational programmes under the affiliation of Gauhati University as well as Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU). Apart from that the college offers certain self-sustained skill based certificate courses aligned with rapidly evolving, technology-driven job market. More recently, the College has also introduced the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) with the recognition from the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

The college has 50 permanent dedicated teaching faculties and 26 non-teaching staff. The college library is equipped with latest editions of textbooks, reference materials, journals and digital resources that cater to the evolving curriculum and diverse interests of students and faculty. The up-to-date Central Library of the college often integrates modern technology, including computer terminals, high speed internet, and access to online databases and e-books enabling users to explore global knowledge beyond physical collections of books, journals, news papers, etc.

Aligning itself to the policies implemented by the NEP 2020, Pub Kamrup College strongly promotes a research culture within its campus. The faculty members have been rigorously publishing books, research papers with various reputed publishing houses and journals respectively. Additionally, some of our faculty members have been engaged with Minor and Major research projects in the past which were sponsored by different government agencies. The college publishes two multi-disciplinary, peer-reviewed e-journals “Quill: the mighty pen” and “ESHANA: Through Women’s Lens” that reflect its commitment to academic excellence and research.

In the present digital era an ICT-enabled classroom with robust digital infrastructure is essential in a college to enhance interactive learning, provide access to global knowledge resources, support innovative teaching methods and equip students with the digital skills required in the modern world. Accordingly, the college has dedicated ICT classrooms to cope with the rapidly changing educational ecosystem in the world. Pub Kamrup College steadfastly continues to uphold its vision of imparting quality education to its students and thereby serving the society and community as well as the nation.
